CNN, regarding big "X": "Tell your president to stop lying."

Well I was content to let this go, but the "Big X" seems to have taken on a life of its own. Check out this Daily Pundit post by Bill Quick, with a (as yet unverified) recording of a telephone complaint to the network: CNN Employee On Tape: Cheney "X" Is "Freedom of Speech" - "Tell Bush And Cheney To Stop Lying"

Of course this isn't the "official" CNN position. After all, as a member of the press, they pride themselves on impartiality. But the position that the employees of the network take is quite interesting, isn't it? I'll probably post about any other weirdness regarding this, but I'm taking it as just that. Weirdness.

Oh, and more eye-rolling. I have a house to clean.

Technical "error" my sweet patoot.

I was technical director for WITI and WBBM in the late 70's and 80's and while we had double supers from time to time, we never used a huge X center screened at the precise incorrect time.

We used then, and they still do now,
Academy Leader with a countdown to 2 seconds, then black for the last two seconds.

There was planning aforethought for this stunt, and several are to blam: A.The director calls the shots.
B. The Technical director punches the button to put the shot on the air. He should have caught it had the director missed it.
C. The Producter and Exec. producer should have caught it.
D. The CG operator should not have cued up the "X" at that spot. It should have been cued in black.

Their story of technical malfunction is bunk.

As I write this, Drudge is reporting that a technician has been fired by CNN and claims discrimination over "freedom of speech".

I love being right all the time!
The whole gig was preconceived!

How dumb do they think we are? Only 100,000 people are watching CNN anyway, and dang few are conservatives.
