Was It Over When The Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor?

Senate GOP to try to end debate, force Alito vote
Kerry returning from Europe to lead filibuster against court nominee

Kerry's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

In the meantime, I'll be writing a best man speech for my best friend's wedding in Minneapolis. I don't expect to blog this weekend, so share and enjoy!

EDIT: It turns out I wasn't the only one who thought of Animal House when I read this story. Isn't it interesting how as soon as the NYT calls for a Democrat with a spine to lead a filibuster, John Kerry snaps to attention, salutes and carries out his orders?

Robosquirrel; Did the Germans or Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor. Or was this the clever ploy of quirky titles attracting visible attention? If the latter, briliant, I do the same. I am hoping for a final decision today on Alito. It is sad because whether or not the judge is liberal or conservative we need to move forward. I think the tide of liberalism is too high right now. I couple of 'asploding' devices would be nice to set off in the depths of the water bed to cut some steam.

With reference to your friend getting married; make sure you have an MP3 player with a copy of TAPS. Play it while reading the following:

"Who is this guy, this friend of mine? He boldly goes where many men have gone before. A road of joy, a road of pain, a road of happiness, a road of pain, a road of blissness, a road of pain. Oops, scratch out those roads of pain with hugs and kissess"

Even worse, the title is a quote from Animal House. So is what I wrote. It was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the story. I think there are enough votes to defeat a "filibuster" (they don't even have to do it, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington-style, just threaten to do it, geez!) and even if there aren't, I don't think there's enough moonbattery to support Kerry. He's just trying to get his name back in the papers.

I wonder what he was doing in Switerland. Skiing? Blaming others for his failures?

Heh, Taps, that's a great idea! I've thinking about what I'm going to say all day - but he occassionally reads PCIF (reads-not comments. He kind of gave me the idea for the name, along with Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett), so I'll share it when I get back, methinks.

I read about that and thought:

This is the absolute zenith of arrogance: not only does the NYT lean Left but it's now taken upon itself the task of creating the Left' day-to-day marching orders.

Kerry's still a fool. Even wonky Robert Byrd has publicly come out in support of Alito. And Byrd not only slapped the Dems but Teddy as well. The votes exist to confirm Alito. He will likely be Justice Alito at Tuesday's end.

If I were the NYT I would be more worried about my shrinking readership than trying to control who is on the Supreme Court. A few more years of the slide in readership they are having and they will be looking at bankruptcy.

hmmm. Maureen Dowd gets new job at The National Enquirer

Works for me

The New York Times has not practiced real journalism for a long, long time and it's coming back to bite them in the butt for sure!

It is right out of Animal House, RS, for certain sure.

Regarding Kerry; he's just being who he has always been: a wacko!

You're right Gayle. The NYT hasn't practiced real journalism for quite awhile.
GRRRRR... No, I'm not surprised that John Kerry snapped to attention. He always likes to "play soldier"...
